Government of Nunavut Comes Back Stronger After Ransomware Attack Using Microsoft Security Solutions

When a ransomware attack shut down computer systems at the Government of Nunavut, Canada’s largest and northernmost territory, their IT team responded with a well-coordinated strategy. But its isolation and the challenges of a harsh climate complicated their technology environments. The team needed a coordinated toolset. Working with Microsoft’s elite cybersecurity DART team, the Government of Nunavut was able to rebuild its network and 5,500 devices while also rolling out security solutions—including Microsoft Sentinel and Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps. And they did it all in just a few weeks during an Arctic winter.
